Spiritual battle: Compulsion not Optional

Christians have the most active part to play in the spiritual battle between the kingdom of God and Devil. Christians have two options in their spiritual journey.

They can either fight against Satan or they can let Satan destroy their spiritual life. Satan’s primary aim is to stop believers from getting close to God, and he will do everything he can to fulfill his mission.

Ephesians 6:12

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Spiritual battle is a serious stuff

Satan usually doesn’t attack non believers because they are already deceived, but Christians are aware about the truth. Christians are the warriors of God equipped with all the weapons needed to stand against the wiles of the devil. Many Christians don’t even know about the weapons in their arsenal due to the lack of research. In this article, I will explain why spiritual battle is not an option for Christians.

Why can’t you avoid the spiritual battle?

There are many reasons why you can’t avoid spiritual battle, and here are some of the major reasons.

Accepting the truth means waging war with the lies

The moment you decide to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you have waged war against the kingdom of darkness. Jesus has clearly indicated our position on this Earth. We are ambassadors of Christ, whose job is to declare the words of God to the lost ones and to be his witness. Accepting Jesus makes you a child of God, and as Satan hates God, he will hate you too. He will do everything he can to stop you.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh

Your objectives contradict Satan’s objectives

Satan wants to defame God and take the people with him to eternal fire, but your objective is to glorify God. It opposes Satan objectives of deceiving people. Jesus has already said that the World will hate the believers like they hated him. Satan will definitely attack you with various philosophies, greed, lust, and other things to stop you from working for God.

2 Corinthians 11:14

And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

There is only one way to Heaven

Satan does not attack you with scary ghosts, he uses the people to attack and persecute you. Worldly people want more options and broader way, but if you follow Jesus, you know that the path to life is narrow. Satan has devised many religions to deceive the people, and you are proclaiming the truth, making you Satan's enemy.

2 Thessalonians 2:9-11

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

As a believer, you have all the weapons in your Arsenal. Jesus has given you authority against Satan, and you must research on spiritual warfare from reliable resources to live a victorious Christian life.

Satan comes like an innocent guy while entering your house, and takes away your joy and happiness like a thief. 


1 Peter 5:8

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
