Syrian Refugee Crisis and Christian faith

Christian faith is all about love

Syrian Refugee crisis is one of the major problems in the current World. There are two groups of people divided upon their viewpoints.
One group of people wants to accept Syrian refugees, but another group of people does not want to accept refugees. Jesus would have accepted the refugees to solve Syrian Refugee crisis if he was on this Earth today. Refugees did not come because they wanted to but because they had to.

Refugees were forced to leave their nation due to ongoing civil war and one must understand this fact. God is love and one of the commandments of Jesus is to love one another. Many people who represent themselves as Christians are now ignoring the most important commandment of Jesus by denying the refugees not solving the problem of Syrian Refugee Crisis. It is necessary to realize that denying those refugees means leaving them out to die.

Christian faith about carrying the cross
1 John 4:7

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

Christian faith must accept everyone even Syrian Refugees

Jesus gave his life for the sinners, and now the question is, “Are we following Jesus by leaving them out to die?” Jesus would have definitely accepted the refugees if he was alive today. Hatred in our heart simply means we need to renew our relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus fed five thousand hungry people so if we follow Jesus then we must do the same by feeding the hungry refugees.

Hungry and helpless refugees can’t attack you neither can they defend themselves. Many people argue that refugees are dangerous, so they do not want to accept refugees. There is a strict process before accepting the refugees so this must not be made a major argument. Love can change peoples' hearts and we should keep that in our mind instead of just showing hatred. Hatred in our heart would just take them further away from knowing the true and living God.

Christian faith accept Syrian Refugees

Martin Luther King once said,” Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Coming back to the point of being dangerous, Jesus has asked us to even love our enemies so if we are really a follower of Jesus than saying refugees are dangerous is not really a valid argument for not accepting them but instead you should be looking to help and save their souls. Syrian Refugee crisis cannot be solved through hate; it can only be solved by accepting and loving them.

Jesus accepted all kinds of sinners in his life span on Earth; in fact, he spent most of his time with the sinners. Jesus disciples were tax collectors, murderer, liars, and so on but he changed their hearts. Jesus disciples spread love throughout the World and they eventually sacrificed their lives for the sake of Jesus and love.

Many believers most probably attend the Church every Sunday, but without love and relationship with Jesus Christ, it’s in vain. Jesus would have accepted the refugees because he simply cannot deny them in the miserable situation. Modern believers use their mind a lot more than their heart, but Jesus has taught us to be like him, so if we are to follow Jesus then we must also accept refugees and love them.

Jesus encountered different types of people in his way and he never ignored the people who needed his help. Jesus healed the leper, fed the hungry, and Jesus would not have denied the refugees in their condition if he was on this Earth today. He never ignored the cries of the people who came to him even the man named Zaccheus.

Luke 19:8

And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

Zaccheus was involved in many criminal activities and Jesus did know his heart. He not only listened to him, but he also ate with him and talked to him like a brother. In the next phase, we can see him turning away from his sins and it was love that changed his heart. The unconditional love of Jesus was the reason behind Jesus changing the heart of murderers, adulterous, thieves, and tax collectors. Jesus lives inside every believer who believes in him and with Jesus; it’s still possible to change the heart of the people.

The conditions of the refugees can be compared with the people in the times when Jesus used to walk on this Earth. There may be many types of people who may be criminals, sick, helpless, hungry, and so on. Being the follower of Jesus Christ, Christians should not only accept them with their whole heart, but they also must be able to sacrifice many things like Christ did for us.

Decisions to accept refugees or not should never be political, but the decision must be made according to what Jesus would have done. Jesus would have accepted the refugees and as a follower of Jesus, every Christian should accept the refugees and must not hate Muslims.
